from Gitlab to Forgejo

We’re moving from gitlab to forgejo !

Considering the current small needs we’re moving from Gitlab to Forgejo. Forgejo is a project forked from gitea and maintained by codeberg. This forge is purely managed by it’s community and there is no plan to switch to a freemium model like gitea or gitlab.

It’s also lighter than gitlab CE. Our small instance was consuming a huge amount of resources regarding the actual usage.

Video conference service

This service based on the Jitsi free software to provide a free video conferencing service. As you may know, because of lockdown the Framasoft instance has been overloaded, so here is a brand new one to help you communicating.

Here are some interesting features of this service:

No need of registration
No one will use the data or metadata of conferences
Collaborative document editing is embeded (with Etherpad integration)

You can access this new service from the menubar or direclty on https://meet.14.tf

from static to static <3

website change from a home made one done with html/css to one generated with hugo hugo is a static website generator written in go easily themable and manageable with GIT.

server migration

Almost all of the services provided on 14.tf has been migrated to new servers. VPN was not impacted, minimum downtime has been managed on other services.

Jabber server is the last and will be migrated in the next few days.

Main changes

From a user perspective the only change is the change from collabora online to onlyoffice on cloud 14 service.The reason was a weird bug in the TLS connexion to the docker container. Onlyoffice provide a modern look & feel and is supposed to be faster as most of the workload is managed by the we browser.

lufi and etherpad instances shutdown

Hey,

2 services has been shutted down due the very small usage :

lufi instance is no more available, if you still want to use that service, I suggest you to have a look to framasoft instance
etherpad instance is now down as well. You can use the framasoft instance too.

New DNS service

DNS14 service

This service allows you to use 14.tf DNS infrastructure to run your DNS service. You can have a dedicated zone for you usage and a dedicated administration portal.

Or just use it as a fallback DNS server.

Service is based on powerDNS/MariaDB so DBMS replication capabilies can be used for zones replications.

New vpn service

VPN14 service

This service based on openvpn provide you more privacy and neutral access to Internet with no bandwidth limitation. Communications are encrypted from end to end and traffic is not logged.

Howto use my VPN14 service

Instructions are communicated just after account creation. Ensure that you got from 14.tf the following prerequisites to configure your connection:

pre-shared key
CA certificate
client certificate
client key
VPN server name

Services hosted here are running without tracking, ADs, data analysis, censorship or any stuff of that kind.

Here is a short description of available services:

cloud14 - Nextcloud instance with integrated document edition and video chat. 1GB storage
mail14 - You email address @14.tf is useable on this page
vpn14 - Neutral VPN connectivity, unlimited bandwith
dns14 - DNS infrastructure you can use as your primary or secondary nameserver
jabber14 - Jabber server with open registration (drop an email to host your domain as virtual server)
hosting14 - Simple web hosting infrastructure (www/dbms)

If you want to use nextcloud, vpn, dns or have an email address hosted at 14.tf, drop an email at hello@14.tf. There is no other way to create accounts for these services at this time. Self registration are closed.
